Darren McGraw

Darren is our lead advisor and engineer of case-specific risk management plans.  Darren has been in the risk management field since 1991. He has earned the Advanced Chartered Personal Risk and Insurance Advisor (ACPRIA), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), and Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designations. He is a founding member of the Private Risk Management Association (PRMA) and is its Western Region Chapter Co-founder and Co-chair.  Darren earned his MBA from the University of Montana, has a certificate in business analytics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, certificates in cybersecurity risk management from Harvard and MIT, and his BA from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.  He is working toward a Doctor of Business Administration (Business Analytics) at George Fox University.

John Mechelsen

John is our lead insurance manager and executes all plans and services.  John’s dad started the firm in the 1950s and John now leads the management of services to the over-$4 Billion of assets managed at Mechelsen, Inc.  John earned his BA from the University of Washington.

John lives in Sammamish with his wife and two children and enjoys traveling with them.  john@mechelseninc.com

Jim Mechelsen

Jim makes sure our office runs perfectly so we can deliver concierge-level service to our clients.  Jim has more than 30 years of work with the firm.  Jim earned his BA from the University of Washington.

Brandon is our private wealth and family specialist. He began his career with our firm in 2008 and expanded his experience by serving successful families at other firms starting in 2018 before returning to us. Brandon earned his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific and his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation from the National Alliance.

Brandon is married to Elizabeth and lives in Snoqualmie with their daughter, Alice and their son, George.  He enjoys time with his family, playing golf, vegetable gardening, and skiing.  He is also the head baseball coach at Skyline High School in Sammamish.
